海江田が失踪した時、彼の死を疑った者がいました。

潜水艦「たつなみ」の艦長深町洋でした。

海江田「やはり来たか。　深町。」

When Kaieda disappeared, there were those who suspected his death.

It was Hiroshi Fukamachi, captain of the submarine Tatsunami.

Kaieda: “I knew you’d come.　Fukamachi.”

深町「やまなみは、アンタに沈められて悲鳴を上げていたぞ！」

海江田「大事の前だ。　仕方なかった。」

深町「俺は、自分の船を沈める艦長を認めない！」

深町は海江田に複雑な思いを持っていました。

Fukamachi: “The submarine Yamanami was screaming as it was sunk by you!”

Kaieda: “It was before the big day.　I had no choice.”

Fukamachi: “I don’t approve of captains who sink their own ships!”

Fukamachi had mixed feelings about Kaieda.

 

世界の七割以上は海です。

海江田の頭の中には、正確な海図があるのです。

信じられない事ですが、海江田ならあり得る。

深町はそう思っていました。

More than 70% of the world is ocean.

Umaeda has an accurate chart of the oceans in his head.

It’s unbelievable, but it’s possible with him.

Fukamachi thought so.

海上自衛隊第二護衛隊群司令　沼田徳治　海江田の特異性を見出していた一人

海江田の操舵技術も神がかっており、

物語の中でも、海江田が一発の魚雷も使わず、

アメリカの潜水艦2隻を犠牲者を出さずに無力化するシーンがあります。

マジでシビれます！

Kaieda’s steering skills are also godlike,

There is a scene in the story where

Kaieda neutralises two American submarines without using a single torpedo

and without suffering any casualties.

It is seriously impressive!

 

モー世界平和とかいいからさ、

ワシと結婚してくれ、海江田！

と思ってしまう瞬間です(笑)。

Forget world peace,

Marry me, Kaieda!

That’s what I thought when I saw that scene (laughs).
